“Michael Hedges meets Steafane Grappelli over some strong coffee…..”
2ish, is the instrumental collaboration between the two virtuosic musicians:
Saskia Tomkins: nyckelharpa, viola and violin. Brandon Scott Besharah: acoustic fingerstyle guitar, hurdy gurdy, saxophone, clarinet and banjo. There are over 50 years of combined musical experience between them.
The music of 2ish has been described as a “living film score”, or as the style often referred to as “Heavy Wood”. Purely instrumental, their original compositions often remind the listener of music once created by the artists Michael Hedges, Oliver Schroer, Stefane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. Their compositions have found a home in both Folk and Jazz idioms. 2ish wesite: 2ish.net
Brandon has studied advanced acoustic guitar technique in France under Pierre Bensusan, and with Canadian guitarist Don Ross for two years. He also studied jazz saxophone privately under Kirk MacDonald and jazz theory under New York based musician Barry Harris.
Saskia was born in the United Kingdom and has15 years of classical training from top UK teachers. She is a UK and Mid Atlantic Irish fiddle champion and has a B.A.hons in jazz and popular music.

Irish fiddle – Irish ornamentation, bowing, lilt, and how to make a tune sound more Irish will be addressed. Saskia will also spend some time as a fiddle technique doctor. Bring your woes and struggles and she will look at how to solve them with you.
Brandon’s Workshop: This workshop will focus on the guitar tuned in DADGAD and it’s application in traditional, and non traditional music. Right hand fingerstyle technique, rhythmic concepts and Harmonic substitution will be discussed. A basic understanding of guitar is essential. Gear-talk and advice, of course, is a must.
