Amanda Kay is a local Canadian singer/songwriter raised in Belgium.
At the age of 3, Amanda discovered her love and talent for singing through the inspiration of Michael Jackson videos, mimicking his lyrics and choreography. This in turn lead to her first live performance at the age of 6 years old at her aunt’s wedding. Amanda’s passion for music and singing grew while participating in her uncle’s choir in Belgium. This enabled her to have the ability to write her own songs and compose melodies. She also had the opportunity to work with European recording production Hot Trak.
While in university, Amanda took advantage of being able to perform in various talent shows and host events such as the Black History Show during Black History Month. Influence such as Beyoncé; Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Etta James and Celine Dion stylistically reflect her neo-soul, jazzy R&B melodies.
Now a graduate from the University of Ottawa in International Studies and Modern Languages, Amanda is currently working on her independent first EP. She hosted her official launch titled “Redemption” as an artist in October 2013 inside the renowned Mercury Lounge. The intimate live performance left spectators speechless and intrigued “Who is Amanda Kay?”
