“It Was Almost Like a Song”
Floyd Hutchinson is a local jazz singer who started pursuing his love for singing in his mid-forties. Floyd is known for his rich, melodic voice and his stage presence. His warmth, great sensitivity and vocal power allow him to interpret all nuances and subtleties of the songs he sings. His vocal style reflects his admiration for great jazz standard singers of past and present. In particular, Floyd’s love of the ballad was inspired by the great balladeer Johnny Hartman and tonight’s performance will be a nod to Johnny.
Floyd is thrilled to be performing with the Steve Boudreau Quartet featuring…
Brian Asselin – sax
Joe Hincke – bass
Jeff Asselin – drums
Steve Boudreau is a highly sought after jazz pianist and vocal accompanist in the Ottawa area. He has performed with singers across Canada, the United States and Europe. He recently released two albums of original music- for solo piano, “Open Arms”, and with guitarist Garry Elliott, “Pre-Dawn Skies”.
Steve, Brian, Joe and Jeff all met when they attended Carleton University for music performance studies over ten years ago. Since then they have all established themselves as in-demand session players and teachers in the region. They are excited to be working on new arrangements with Floyd for this show and more to come.
