Rachel Beausoleil brings together members of the Sol da Capital project for this special evening of treasures from the Brazilian songbooks. Beausoleil has traveled to Brazil three times since 2012, learning songs that Brazilians adore. She received coaching from several top musicians of São Paulo and Rio, including Rosa Passos, Lívia Nestrovsky, and Izábel Padovani.
This show will feature Rachel Beausoleil on vocal cords, Sylvio Módolo on guitar and backing vocals, Jasmin Lalande on woodwinds, Angel Araos on percussion, and Marc Decho on bass guitar.
Rosa Passos gave Rachel the thumbs up for her performance of bossa nova and samba songs, introducing her as the “Canadian girl who sings samba just right.”
Rachel Beausoleil shares the Brazilian popular music you don’t know – Samba, bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim: that’s Brazilian music to most people. But there’s lots of interesting and appealing music from that country rarely heard here. At GigSpace on Saturday, Rachel Beausoleil will introduce a much broader picture of Brazilian music to Ottawa.
