IMOOfest to return after financial break-even and artistic successes “Pedersen said they were very happy with GigSpace: “It worked out fantastically. They’re generous with their time, it was affordable for us, and this is a beautiful room which suits the music that we’re doing very, very well.” The room worked particularly well in letting the audience hear every note in the very quiet music from many of the performers: for example, Jesse Stewart rubbing his face against a cardboard box. The Improvising Musicians of Ottawa/Outaouais’ second edition of its improvised music festival, IMOOfest.  IMOOfest 2013 will showcase several acts over three days.

Presented by: Improvising Musicians of Ottawa/Outaouais (IMOO)

IMOO are group of musicians who, drawing on jazz, classical, folk and rock traditions, are dedicated to the exploration of contemporary practice in improvisation. They are interested in exploring different practices and means of communication, including, but not limited to, verbal, visual, auditory, gestural, concrete and abstract. They are a platform and resource for emerging artists to present their work and/or collaborate with other artists and exist as a means to community development and networking, bringing artists together, and presenting their work to a broad audience.

The second annual IMOOfest will be held this year from November 8 to 10. Ottawa’s premiere festival of improvised and avant-garde music will be held in a new location. read article OttawaJazzScene.ca
