Parc X trio, an instrumental jazz group based in Montreal (Canada), is the winner of the TD Grand Prize for Jazz from the 2010 Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. After a successful tour of nine major Canadian jazz festivals in 2012 (Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Ottawa, Montreal [FIJM and OFF JAZZ], St-John’s, Halifax and Quebec city) with its second record, Cent questions sans réponse, Parc X trio returned to the studio to record its new material.

Founding members Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano/keys and compositions) and Alex Lefaivre (bass and compositions) have enlisted Alain Bourgeois (drums) for Parc X trio’s new project: Parc X trio (3), an electric session recorded live in the studio with the whole band in the same room. This new project reinvents the trio’s sound by bringing in vintage electric keyboard, electric bass and various effects into the mix. The sound is raw with no overdubs or edits and reflects Parc X trio’s refined passion and stunning musicality. The high energy group has found its own unique voice in the contemporary jazz scene. Its original compositions are heavily influenced by rock, urban beats and pop style melodies.

After another tour of Canada in the summer of 2013, the band completed a successful 3-week tour across Europe (France and Poland) in October and will be performing in the USA at the Falcon (Marlboro, NY) and Shapeshifter Lab (Brooklyn, NY) this November.

” Always looking to re-invent themselves, this trio that we’ve supported from the start likes to mix modern to past sounds. Nice mood and sounds for a connected trio. “
– Christophe Rodriguez, Journal de Montr?al

“Their sonic research is honestly quite refreshing and their improvised flights, as well as their composed melodies, will grab your attention. Party on! “
– Stanley P?an, VOIR/CBC

“The climax of their compositions must be experienced live, at the end of their songs where the energy level is at its highest. This band definitely sticks out with their rigorous research for new sounds and rhythms. Their level of musicianship just went up a notch with this new concept.”
– Marie-Eve Boulanger, CAMUZ
