The Glamour Profession band came to light in early 2014 as a project designed to honour the sound and spirit of Steely Dan compositions. Unique, sophisticated, and ground-breaking, the jazz-rock sound of Steely Dan is as relevant today as it was when it began in 1972 under Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, who were then college-age geeks with a near pathological taste for jazz and irony-laced story-telling. Their hilarious narratives are embedded in infectious and playful funk grooves, layered with wickedly devious jazz harmonies inspired by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Gil Evans, to name but a few. The Ottawa-based, ten-piece band spent eighteen months building a repertoire that now tops thirty Steely Dan tunes, including their biggest hits.…
