Ron Sweetman had an insatiable love for all kinds of jazz from the very traditional to the truly avant-garde, and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge about the music, composers and players. A noted jazz historian, record collector and the long-time radio host of “In A Mellow Tone” on CKCU FM — the program he founded and enthusiastically hosted for more than 40 years — he delighted in sharing his experience of jazz, whether on the radio or at live performances. It was in large part due to Ron’s interest and guidance that Karen spent some time hosting a jazz show on CKCU as well.
